Logistics Industry Pressures and Trends

Presenter: Frank Fischer – Pure Logistics

The logistics industry faces a myriad of pressures today: Port and other bottlenecks, inconsistent capacity, increasingly frequent natural disasters, cost reductions and carbon footprint reductions among others. There are a number of recent trends developing for how companies face and combat these pressures: Organizational realignment, collaboration between partners-customers-suppliers, investments in equipment and technology, outsourcing and consolidation.

Frank Fischer owns and manages Pure Logistics, a logistics management company specializing in project logistics supporting the hospitality, retail and healthcare industries. The company provides transportation, warehousing, and installation management for new and renovation projects for hotels, retail stores, senior living facilities, restaurants, clinics and hospitals.

During the past 15 years, Frank has been actively involved in the Center for Supply Chain Management at Saint Louis University. He has served on the organization’s Steering Committee and Board of Directors and became Chairman in July 2016. Frank is also a 20-year member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. Frank holds a BS degree in Business Administration and MBA from the University of Phoenix.

APICS St. Louis 2016 Company of the Year

USAF 635th Supply Chain Operation Wing

The St. Louis Chapter of APICS has named United States Air Force 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing Company of the Year for its commitment to supply chain excellence through APICS education and certification.

“The supply chain typically represents an organization’s greatest investment. The Air Force is no different and in light of financial pressures and reduced manufacturing, the Air Force supply chain must become more lean, responsive and efficient to be successful in the future,” said Colonel David Sanford, Commander, 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing. “The wing is honored to be recognized by APICS St. Louis, and will continue to partner with APICS and other professionals in our community to advance improvements in Air Force supply chain management.”

Join us on September 14th as we salute the 635Th Supply Chain Operations Wing.
