Did You Know

Sixty years ago this month, the intermodal shipping industry was born. On April 26, 1956, Malcom McLean loaded 58 trailers onto the S.S. Ideal X in Newark, NJ for a voyage to Houston, TX.

Today, there are over 34 million TEU’s crisscrossing the world according to the World Shipping Council.  Few innovations have had such a profound impact on global trade than McLean’s melding of land and sea based cargo movement.
